Dr. Matt Travis Attends Harvard Business School Executive Education Program
Six-day program focused on strategy and leadership for nonprofit executives
Midland Center for the Arts President and CEO Dr. Matt Travis recently participated in Harvard Business School Executive Education’s Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program, held July 26-31 on the Harvard Business School campus in Boston.
Presented jointly with the Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Initiative, the selective program brought together nonprofit CEOs and executive directors responsible for guiding the direction, mission and major programs of their organizations. The 170 participants were chosen through a competitive application process and come from 18 different countries and 6 continents. Through the Harvard Business School case method, faculty-led instruction and collaboration with fellow participants, Travis examined nonprofit strategy, organizational alignment, governance, performance management and leadership through organizational transformation.
“Learning alongside so many talented nonprofit leaders from around the world was deeply impactful,” Travis said. “Our cohort and faculty explored new and innovative ways we can collaborate to make the world a better place. The time is now, so let’s begin.”
Travis has served as President and CEO of Midland Center for the Arts since March 2025. His participation came at a pivotal time for the organization as it prepares to reopen its reimagined museum this fall and continue expanding opportunities for people to explore, create and connect.
